Studies Show E-Cigarettes can Help You Kick That Smoking Habit

Millions of people across the world continue to smoke cigarettes despite the known health dangers associated with this habit. In the United States alone, up to 36.5 million adults smoke cigarettes, according to the U.S. Centers for Diseases and Control (CDC).

The CDC has revealed that the risk of death from smoking cigarettes has spiked over the past 50 years in the U.S. Smoking is said to claim more casualties yearly than the Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and even firearm-related incidents.

While many smokers admit that they would like to quit, it is a very tough undertaking. Studies have shown that electronic cigarettes can be very beneficial in helping people to stop smoking tobacco sticks.

A study carried out in 2014 by researchers in England revealed that e-cigs could indeed help smokers to kick the habit. Up to 5,863 smokers participated in the study, and a fifth of those who used e-cigarettes are said to have dropped smoking at the time the study ended.

Professor Robert West, the lead researcher behind the study, revealed that e-cigarettes could triple your chances of quitting smoking successfully compared to if you attempted to quit without any aid or used other products like nicotine patches and gums.

E-cigarettes could substantially improve public health because of their widespread appeal and the huge health gains associated with stopping smoking,” West said.

Another study published by West and his team in 2016 revealed that up to 22,000 people in the UK were able to quit smoking on a long-term basis in 2014 by using e-cigs. Both studies appeared in the journal Addiction.

Studies carried out in other parts of the world have reported similar findings. A study published by the U.S. National Library of Medicine in 2016 reported that young adults who were not ready to stop smoking cigarettes were able to do so thanks to electronic cigarettes. While some concerns have been raised about the popularity of vaping among young people, many researchers agree that the advantages far outweigh the dangers.

E-cigarettes not only have the ability to help you quit smoking, but your lungs and your heart would also benefit from it. A study published in the Internal and Emergency Medicine journal in 2016 revealed that smokers who switched to e-cigarettes had lower systolic blood pressure. Some of these smokers had high blood pressure while on tobacco.

Another study presented at a meeting of the American Academy of Allergy Asthma & Immunology (AAAAL) in 2015 by Dr. Cristina Russo revealed that asthmatic smokers who opted to use electronic cigarettes showed signs of improvement in their respiratory system.

Vaping is not only a more healthy alternative, but it is also a more cost-effective option. Getting a vaping kit would spare you the cost of having to buy a pack of cigarettes ever so often. There are many types of e-cigs with different price points. If you’re a thinking of turning to vaping, there are many cheap electronic cigarettes designed specifically for beginners.

It is important to note that smoking an e-cig is not like traditional smoking. Nothing gets burnt up when you use an e-cigarette; vapor is produced by heating a liquid in a unit known as an atomizer.

An additional perk of going for vapes instead of tobacco cigarettes is that it does not leave any odor on your body or in the room. Every smoker knows that smelling like cigarettes can be a turn-off. Rather than leaving you smelling, vaping allows you to enjoy the flavor of your e-juice while getting a nicotine-hit. There are many e-juice brands on the market today with a vast array of flavors to choose from. No matter what your taste is, there is sure to be something in there for you.
